# How to Safely Shoot Fireworks

Fireworks can bring joy and excitement to any celebration, but it is crucial to prioritize safety to ensure that everyone enjoys the spectacle without any accidents. Here are a few essential guidelines to follow when shooting fireworks:
1. Read and understand the instructions: Carefully read the instructions on each firework before use. Understand their recommended distance, launching instructions, and safety precautions.
2. Choose the right location: Select an open area with no flammable materials or structures nearby. Ensure the launch site is far enough from buildings, trees, and power lines.
3. Keep a water source nearby: Have a bucket of water or a hose nearby to extinguish any potential fires or accidents. It is also beneficial to keep a fire extinguisher handy as an extra precaution.
4. Secure the fireworks: Set up fireworks on a hard, flat surface to provide stability during launching. If necessary, consider using a bucket filled with sand or dirt to anchor the fireworks securely.
5. Light fireworks at a distance: Always use an extended lighter or a punk to light fireworks. Maintain a safe distance after lighting to avoid injury from sparks or unpredictable explosions.
6. Never relight malfunctioning fireworks: If a firework fails to ignite or doesn't go off, do not attempt to relight it. Wait for at least 20 minutes and then soak it in water to ensure it is completely extinguished.
7. Supervision and protective gear: Assign a responsible adult to oversee the fireworks display and ensure that everyone stays a safe distance away. It is advisable to wear safety glasses and gloves when handling fireworks.
8. Alcohol and fireworks do not mix: Avoid consuming alcohol or any impairing substances while shooting fireworks. Stay alert and focused to guarantee everyone's safety.
9. Dispose of fireworks properly: After the display, douse all used fireworks with water to prevent unintentional fires. Once cool, carefully collect the remnants and dispose of them in a designated trash container.
By adhering to these safety measures, you can enjoy a spectacular fireworks display while ensuring the well-being of yourself and those around you. Remember, safety should always be the top priority.
